Return of the Mountain Devil, 2015

In the series, Return of the Mountain Devil, photographer Andrew Merry and textile artist Kay Smith appropriate the historic images of Daniel Evans. Evans was well known from the 1920s to the 1950s for taking souvenir photographs of tourists with his props the ‘Mountain Devil’ and ‘Felix the Cat’ at Echo Point. Smith recreated Evans’ props while Merry used these intriguing figures out of their original context.
