Fire, Cicadas and other phenomena, 2014

This exhibition is a series of photographs taken in the upper Blue Mountains during late 2013 and early 2014 – a strange time where there were cicada plagues, apocalyptic fires and torrential rain. The exhibition is not documentary but is instead concerned with the aesthetics of the phenomena. The series has a climate change subtext and presents a dystopian vision of the Australian landscape. The exhibition was at the Hat Hill Gallery in Blackheath, which is in the same area that the photographs in the exhibition were taken. The photograph, Burnt out walking track to the Grose Valley 2013 from this exhibition is now included in the of the Blue Mountains Cultural Centre Collection.
